Ellen Steidle Achievement Awards

Established in 1953 by Dean Edward Steidle to honor the memory of his wife, Ellen Girsham Steidle. The Ellen Steidle Achievement Awards recognize junior and senior EMS students whose activities have contributed to the mission of the College. Students in good academic standing with at least two semesters as an EMS student may be nominated. If you wish to be nominated for an award, contact a faculty member in your major or the adviser of a student organization to which you belong. Senior Award: $1200; Junior Award: $800

adapt a paper you’ve written for an academic setting, or perhaps a professor or from a conference—or maybe one that you began from scratch just because you were interested in the topic—to a nontechnical audience.

EMS Energy Institute's Clean Energy Seminar Series Speakers Announced

The Spring 2014 EMS Energy Institute's clean energy seminar series starts January 22!


The EMS Energy Institute has an excellent line-up of speakers for the Spring 2014 semester. Topics include, coalbed methane, coal , biomass energy, gas turbine engines, fuel cells, and chemical looping technology. Speakers will address, research, policy, new technologies, and more.

Attend a January Hearing About Oil and Gas Activities in PA

Attend a hearing regarding the proposed revisions to oil and gas regulations that include performance standards for oil and gas activities. The regulation include a consideration of drilling impacts on public resources as well as standards related to managing drilling waste, restoring drilling sites and gathering pipeline construction, and requirements for finding and dealing with abandoned wells close to proposed well sites.

Legislative Correspondent Position Opening - Washington, DC

LEGISLATIVE CORRESPONDENT- Senator Casey seeks a Legislative Correspondent to handle correspondence for a host of issues including, but not limited to, agriculture, energy, and environment. Individual will be responsible for drafting all constituent correspondence in their assigned issue areas and providing direct policy support as needed to the Legislative Assistant. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, superior researching skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Hill experience preferred, but not required.
