CARBON ANALYST & PROGRAM SPECIALIST

Position Description:

XPRIZE is seeking an experienced Carbon Analyst & Program Specialist to play an integral role on a small, collaborative prize operations team.  This role is expected to remain deeply engaged on the latest trends in carbon removal and conduct research and analysis throughout the course of the prize to inform prize criteria, competition operations, testing and judging.  This role will contribute to high level conversations on prize strategy, content creation, and the design and execution of impact initiatives and partnerships to support the prize and catalyze the carbon removal market.  This role will build strong relationships with the teams competing to win the prize over the next four years, track progress among the competing teams, coordinate calls and team events, and liasise on complex technical topics in close consultation with the Technical Lead.  The role will also provide project coordination support for the overall operations of the prize, including but not limited to project planning and task management, processing expenses, event coordination, vendor coordination, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Carbon Analyst Responsibilities (estimated 50%):

  • Stay current on carbon removal, energy, and climate and on latest trends and developments to inform work
  • Support research and analysis efforts as needed for carbon removal or new Alliances related to energy and climate
  • Engage with external experts, thought leaders, and organizations as needed to advise on direction of work and success of the prizeSupport
  • Development of prize impact strategy, take on specific impact projects as needed
  • Identify partnership opportunities
  • Develop compelling pitch decks outlining research and program design concepts for internal and external audiences
  • Develop original content ideas relevant to carbon, energy, and climate such as blogs, creative assets, new projects, etc.

Team Relations Responsibilities (estimate 30%):

  • Develop strong relationships with the ecosystem competing teams and become familiar with their carbon removal solutions and technologies
  • Develop tools to track and manage team progress throughout the competition
  • Liaise with teams on complex technical topics in close consultation with the Technical Lead
  • Lead communication efforts with competing teams, develop materials for team, respond to team questions, and host webinars
  • Participate in relevant online carbon removal communities discussions to drive participation in the prize
  • Identify and participate in industry events virtually and in-person representing the prize to expand the ecosystem
  • Lead the development of processes and forms for team submissions throughout life of prize
  • Work closely with IT to customize XPRIZE's online competition portal (Prize Operations Platform, aka "POP") and develop new features for future phases of the prize
  • Manage internal and external meetings, webinars, team recruitment calls, etc

Project Management Responsibilities (extimated 20%):

  • Perform day to day operations which include processing invoices, coordinating internal and external meetings
  • Work closely with the ops team on the design of the judging process
  • Develop scope of work statements for external vendors, contractors, and partners, identify potential vendors, and manage work of implementation partners as needed
  • Plan and execute prize related events (including recruitment webinars, workshops, working groups, etc.)
  • Work with marketing team to coordinate prize communications and timely delivery of assets
