How would you like to use your skills to help promote the expansion of wind energy? The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is the national trade association that represents the wind industry and promotes wind power through advocacy, communication, and education. The United States is the world’s number one wind energy producer. In fact, wind supplied Iowa with over 31 percent of its electricity last year! If you would like to partner with a dynamic team of individuals committed to helping power a cleaner, stronger America, please consider the following unpaid internship opportunity:

The Federal Legislative Affairs Team at the American Wind Energy Association seeks a full-time intern for the fall.  The internship will expose interns to the policy shop of AWEA, with a focus on federal legislation important to the wind industry, as well as some overlap with state policy engagement.   The intern will work on both long term projects as well as time-sensitive issues, as they arise. 

AWEA is a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This internship may experience high work demands under tight timelines. Managing priorities and timelines across all departments is critical.  If this sounds like a great learning, save the world, brain stimulating, fun, advocacy opportunity – OR you need the internship for college credit, you should apply! Applicants should have strong written and oral communication skills, as well as a passion for clean energy and government affairs.  Applicants should be pursuing either a masters or undergraduate degree in political science, environmental or energy policy, or a related field.
