Energy & Utilities Consultant - Full Time and Intern

As an Energy & Utilities Consultant, you will focus mainly on assisting senior-level consultants in analyzing and developing large-scale utility operations and communications networks, costing alternative solutions, and developing strategic business solutions for our clients in the utilities industry. This role will allow you to develop new skill sets, while gaining knowledge of related business and technology solutions. Depending upon your interests, work may be in the areas of telecommunications, distribution engineering, transmission and substation engineering, distributed/renewable generation, information technology or enterprise asset management.

Your specific responsibilities may include

  • Assessing and documenting current-state client business processes and procedures, identifying improvement opportunities in new business processes, capabilities, and supporting technologies for clients
  • Analyzing various solutions utilizing different technologies and creating cost summaries for each scenario for the client
  • Designing and engineering communication systems and creating cost summaries
  • Building and maintaining large portions of the communications network and provide associated cost for the constructing and implementation effort
  • Collaborating with West Monroe Partners’ project teams and interfacing with all levels of client team members
  • Learning and participating in the business development and sales process by assisting with project proposals, presentations, and new client activities
  • Taking entrepreneurial ownership of the practice by contributing to the development of approaches, methodologies, and solutions for client engagements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
  • Minimum major GPA of 3.00

Job Requirements

  • Track record of outstanding academic performance in one of the following preferred majors:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Nuclear Engineering
  • Experience with electric power generation systems, power grid operations, wireless communications and/or project management is desired
