The Pennsylvania Mountain Service Corps (PMSC) AmeriCorps program was created in 1994, and began
with a 40 member Corps that would be partnered with nonprofit and governmental organizations across
10 Pennsylvania counties, (Armstrong, Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fayette, Fulton, Huntingdon, Indiana,
Somerset, and Westmoreland.) The Corps was designed to address all four major AmeriCorps initiatives,

is a full-time service position through the Americorps Program and housed at ClearWater Conservancy.
ClearWater Conservancy is committed to the long-term protection and enhancement of the Spring
Creek Watershed and the surrounding region. ClearWater is also committed to the long term
sustainability of our sister entities, the Spring Creek Watershed Commission (SCWC) and the Spring
Creek Watershed Association (SCWA). Therefore, ClearWater Conservancy will serve as the AmeriCorps
program host and sponsor for this position on behalf of these entities with the desire to support broad
based stakeholder collaboration.
Position Overview
The Conservation Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day operations, management
and maintenance of the Spring Creek Watershed Association, Spring Creek Watershed Commission and
the Spring Creek Atlas Project (Atlas), along with other to-be-determined education and outreach
initiatives.
The Conservation Associate will work directly with the chairs of the SCWC, SWCA and the Atlas project.
This position will also collaborate with municipal officials, volunteers and a variety of public groups and
conservation professionals on a regular basis to assist with watershed conservation education and
outreach within the community. A successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for conservation
and a willingness to progress work through collaborative approaches.

Responsibilities
• Coordinate Spring Creek Watershed Commission, Watershed Association and Atlas Workgroup
and associated committees. Includes scheduling meetings, agenda creation, sending out
meeting notices and monthly financial reports, and taking and distribution of minutes.
• Assist with the creation, administration and maintenance of the Spring Creek Atlas project and
website. Provide technical and administrative assistance to Atlas authors as needed in
developing pages, maps, layers for the Atlas.
• Develop technical and non-technical educational activities, presentations, and written materials
for a variety of audiences.
• Maintain email list serves and contact lists.
• Assist with booking monthly educational speakers.
• Assist with grant writing and reporting and other fundraising initiatives.
• Oversee special projects as assigned.
• Develop and assist with educational events and activities, including ClearWater’s Adventures in
Conservation series.
• Represent ClearWater Conservancy, the Spring Creek Watershed Commission, the Spring Creek
Watershed Association and Atlas Workgroup to communicate their mission and projects at
public events.
• Provide assistance with writing and organizing information for website updates, E-News and
other forms of communication to the public. Develop and email quarterly e-newsletter.
• Provide back-up administrative duties as requested or necessary such as general inquiry
telephone calls, e-mails and note taking for various meetings.
• Draft, proofread and edit correspondence.
• Work closely with staff, volunteers and board to build a welcoming and respected presence in
the community.

Qualifications: Applicant must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in natural resource management,
ecology, geography, environmental education or communications considered. Excellent interpersonal
and communication skills including written, verbal, public speaking and social media are required. Must
be focused and possess superior attention to detail and desire to build consensus on collaborative
projects. Proficiency with web development preferred. Candidate must have a valid PA driver’s
license, clean driving record and a reliable personal vehicle for transportation to and from work and
Personal Characteristics: Candidate must perform as a team player, and be willing to take initiative.
Creativity and problem solving skills are desirable. Candidate must be willing to work flexible hours,
evenings and weekends and willing to work in a small office setting under pressure with good humor
