Call for Presentation Proposals re: Engaged Learning

CALL FOR PRESENTATION PROPOSALS

Student Lightning Presentations @ the 2014 Engaged Scholarship Expo

November 17, 2014  | Heritage Hall, Hetzel Union Building, University Park

How have you taken your education beyond the classroom?

Maybe you scored an awesome internship, traveled the world during study abroad, or made groundbreaking progress through research. If so, you’ve had an engaged scholarship experience, and we want to hear from you!

The Council for Engaged Scholarship (COES) invites all undergraduate students to submit a proposal for a lightning presentation about how going beyond the classroom made a difference in their Penn State experience. Lightning presentations are designed to be quick and engaging—lasting no more than five minutes—so we can pack the most into the expo as possible.

If your proposal is selected, you'll have the chance to showcase your experience along with other students at the upcoming Engaged Scholarship Expo in November! (Presenting at the expo is a great experience to talk about during future interviews, by the way!)

If you’re interested, please submit your proposal by October 30, 2014.

In the meantime, join the conversation about Penn State’s Engaged Scholarship Initiative on our Facebook and Twitter pages!

Engaged Scholarship is defined as out-of-classroom academic experiences that complement classroom learning—undergraduate research, community-based learning, service learning, internships, capstone experiences, study abroad, study away, embedded travel courses.

The Council on Engaged Scholarship was formed in October 2012 to advance Penn State’s mission by creating a student-centered environment that fosters engaged teaching, research, and service. It is sponsored Undergraduate Education, Student Affairs, and Outreach and Online Education.
