Wind Energy Foundation Seeking Manager of Business Operations - Washington D.C.

The Wind Energy Foundation (WEF), a nonprofit organization focused on accelerating the nation’s shift to clean, domestically-produced renewable energy and delivering solutions to climate change, seeks an experienced business manager to work full-time in partnership with its Executive Director.

The Business Operations Manager will provide critical support for all aspects the Foundation’s work. The Foundation is rapidly expanding its efforts to educate decision makers and the general public about the benefits of wind energy and to help wind energy industry leaders and their allies advance the organization’s mission. This position will be on the ground floor of this exciting era of organizational growth.

Key elements of the Business Operations Manager’s responsibilities:

  • Program delivery; will assist with all of WEF’s programs and projects, with a focus on strengthening internal communications and teamwork and helping to ensure the overall effectiveness of WEF staff, contractors, consultants and Board of Directors. 
  • Grants management; will help ensure compliance with deliverables in grant agreements and help ensure effective communications with the Foundation’s funders.
  • Financial management; will help manage WEF’s budget and financial reporting, including managing invoices and payments to vendors.
  • General operations and administrative support for the Executive Director; including scheduling meetings, planning travel, ensuring fulfillment of contracts, and managing contact lists and other databases.
  • Additional WEF operations and administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience with operations and administrative support, including managing budgets and contracts and providing support for executives.
  • Highly organized with attention to details. Demonstrated ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and solve problems as they arise.  Sound judgment and instincts, and excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills, are essential.
  •   Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.  The Business Operations Manager must be able to interact collegially and effectively with staff, consultants, contractors, the Board of Directors, funders, and leaders from industry, NGOs, government and academia.  
  • Excellent computer skills, including with programs such as Excel and PowerPoint, and with social media websites and apps and other communications technologies.
