The Penn State Center Pittsburgh is looking for a student intern to participate in an urban community based program that as part of the National Energy Leadership Corps. Greater Pittsburgh is a quilt of diverse neighborhoods with equally diverse housing stock. Bringing information to homeowners about how to make energy choices that result in maximized efficiency, comfort and savings is the overarching objective of the National Energy Leadership Corps (NELC). The student will be marketing the home energy assessments program—a collaborative effort of Penn State and University of Pittsburgh—as well as working to broaden the scope and participation in the program. This intern position will provide an opportunity to network with organizations that have the potential to deliver the NELC curriculum and to broaden the message delivery. We are looking for a student who has a professional, articulate demeanor who will be adept at meeting with the staff of educational, community and environmental groups within the Pittsburgh region. We are looking for a student who can engage in strategic planning and implementation and who is capable of working independently as well as part of a team. This student needs to be organized and detail-driven, able to report on their efforts and be a responsible team member. This opportunity will also include opportunities to learn about home energy decision making and the holistic approach of assessing buildings as a system. This summer work opportunity will be from mid-May 2014 through mid-August, approximately 30 hours per week. This work can be used either as an internship or an independent work study. Junior or senior year student required.

The Penn State Center Pittsburgh is looking for a student intern to participate in an urban community based program that provides homeowners with home energy efficiency reports as part of the National Energy Leadership Corps. Greater Pittsburgh is a quilt of diverse neighborhoods with equally diverse housing stock. Bringing information to homeowners about how to make energy choices that result maximized efficiency, comfort and savings is the overarching objective of the National Energy Leadership Corps (NELC). The student will be completing home energy assessments this summer—a collaborative effort of Penn State and the University of Pittsburgh—and then provide homeowners with a personalized report with prioritized suggestions for improvements. We are looking for a student who can interact with the homeowners on all aspects of the process. This student needs to be organized and detail-driven, able to interact with homeowners in a professional and courteous manner and interact well with all members of the team. This summer work opportunity will be from mid-May through mid-August, approximately 30 hours per week. This work can be used either as an internship or an independent work study. Junior or senior year student required.
