GENERAL DESCRIPTION
SunPower is seeking to hire a Commercial Solar and Storage Performance Manager located in Austin, TX. This position will be responsible for managing a team of engineers who support the operational performance of a portfolio of SunPower constructed solar photovoltaic (PV) plants, and associated energy storage systems, primarily in the behind the meter commercial and industrial distributed generation market segment. The position will provide technical direction for a team of engineers and make frequent presentations to key internal and external stakeholders on the operational performance of their assets with the goal of ensuring financial returns for asset owners. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Management of a team of performance and data backfill engineers responsible for the preparation, quality control, and publication of performance reports for multiple portfolios of solar and energy storage assets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Coordination with O&M and Asset Management staff to deliver presentations and respond to customer questions, regarding the performance of managed assets.
- Assume responsibility for production numbers used for invoicing and administrative reporting.
- Quantification of performance guarantee and availability guarantee risk, and the development of technical response plans to improve the performance of at-risk sites.
- Program management of the Commercial Solar wash program to direct wash spend and track performance improvement from washes.
- Negotiation and administration, including payment issuance, of performance guarantee and availability guarantee payments to or from SunPower counterparties.
- Coordination with SunPower sales teams to updates models for new contract pricing based on component failure rates and performance guarantee risk.
- Evaluation of the performance guarantee and availability guarantee underwriting practices to ensure the profitability of the portfolio of contracts.
- Coordination with the O&M Operations team to provide technical direction for real-time operational issues. Coordinate the procurement of specialized engineering skills (such as SCADA or electrical engineering) needed to resolve site issues.
- Coordination with SunPower Digital Services to provide business requirements related to the maintenance and development of performance monitoring collection, storage, and analytic systems.
- Coordination with the SunPower Development Engineering team to manage the implementation of revisions to solar performance models in operations.
- Coordination with the SunPower Energy Storage team to implement new battery systems into operation.
- Coordination with the SunPower Comissioning Team to manage the operations of new solar projects.
- Act as the primary company subject matter expert on operational commercial solar and battery performance.
