Chemical Engineering Intern - Nuclear Fuel Services

Nuclear Fuel Services, (NFS)  is headquartered in Erwin, TN, just right outside of Johnson City, TN. NSF is a leading supplier of nuclear components and fuel to the U.S. government; provides technical and management services to support the U.S. government in the operation of complex facilities and environmental remediation activities; and supplies precision manufactured components, services and fuel for the commercial nuclear power industry. 

NFS is seeking qualified and motivated graduate students to join our highly-skilled team of Engineering/Quality Assurance professionals for a unique internship opportunity at our Erwin, TN facility. NFS offers paid internships that  will occur over the summer of 2020. Interns hired for this position will perform challenging tasks while developing and delivering Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Inspection solutions used in a nuclear environment.  Among other tasks, our interns can expect to create/update inspection plans, assist with product Dimensional Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing, perform records verifications, and assist with receipt inspection of product and raw materials. Be a part of something big and help support the defense industry while gaining valuable knowledge and honing your skills. Did we mention the networking opportunities?   • Internships will last approximately 10-12 weeks, but may be extended in some situations. Students will be required to make a PowerPoint presentation detailing their completed work and assigned projects at the conclusion of their internship.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
  • Position requires U.S. Citizenship (no dual citizenship) with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance involving an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
  • Level and salary determined by level of education and experience.
