Extended Realities - Creating Visceral Experiences for Sustainability
Immersive technologies, which allow for extending reality, provide researchers and educators with the means to design experiences that afford changing perspectives, experience the invisible, the past, or the future. We are just at the beginning to understand the role that immersive technologies can play in understanding environmental change, how they facilitate system thinking, and ultimately ground both decision-making and understanding of sustainability-related issues in embodied, visceral experiences. The talk will provide an overview of research facilitated through Penn State's Center for Immersive Experiences showcasing projects addressing the communication of climate change, energy, and environmental decision-making.
