Connecting Information and Action: A Sustainable Consumer’s Playbook
Building on his book, Green Grades: Can Information Save the Earth?, Dr. Graham Bullock will discuss the possibilities and pitfalls of using information about the environmental and social performance of companies and products to tackle the world’s sustainability challenges. He will explore how consumers can analyze the credibility, trustworthiness, and effectiveness of eco-labels such as USDA Organic, ENERGY STAR, and FSC and decide for themselves which ones they trust. Dr. Bullock’s insights derive not only from his academic research as an Associate Professor of Environmental Studies and Political Science at Davidson College and in his graduate studies at UC Berkeley and Harvard University but also from both his practitioner’s experience working on ecotourism for The Nature Conservancy in China and co-founding the social venture, GoodGuide.com.
