Description

Cardno is seeking an Environmental Permitting Specialist in our Newark, DE office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


> Environmental permitting for planned energy projects, including oil & gas and/or power generation/transmission projects (including renewable energy projects such as wind and solar); : Section 404/402/401 permits, USACE Nationwide and individual permits, state general permits and special use permits, etc; as well as, experience coordinating with agencies (i.e. USACE, USFWS, SHPO)
> Manage day to day operations of small to medium sized projects
> Ability to train and mentor more junior staff
> Field investigation/study design (including oil spill response)
> Communicating and coordinating with clients, contractors, project managers, field coordinators, and project staff
> Perform additional level and skill appropriate duties as needed

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:


> B.S. in environmental science, biology, ecology, or related natural science field 
> Minimum of 5 years of professional experience 
> Expertise in the energy market, ideally with experience in renewables (including solar and wind)
> Comfortable working in remote or industrial areas and the ability to work occasional extended hours.
> Excellent oral and written communication skills
>Computer literate and experienced with common word processing, Excel, database, statistical, and graphics programs (e.g., Microsoft Office products).
> Capable of writing professional reports and making oral presentations
> Ability to travel to field sites and other Cardno office locations throughout North America
> Ability to work well independently and with a diverse, multi-disciplinary group in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
> Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship

Desired Qualifications:

> 40hr OSHA HAZWOPER Certification
> Offshore wind experience
> Experience with industrial compliance reports such as SPCC plans, stormwater plans, and NPDES renewal permits.
> Solid time-management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects with tight deadlines
> Ability to conduct field programs
> Educational and/or work experience includes focus on environmental and/or natural resource applications 
> GIS experience a plus
