Sustainability Projects Coordinator, Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA

Dickinson College is seeking a passionate campus sustainability leader to join the staff of our Center for Sustainability Education (CSE) as our next Projects Coordinator. The Projects Coordinator develops and manages innovative hands-on learning opportunities for undergraduate students; inspires, mentors and supervises paid student interns and student volunteers in a variety of campus sustainability projects; and coordinates collection and reporting of GHG inventory and other sustainability performance data. Examples of projects include The Handlebar biking cooperative, The Hive beekeeping cooperative, student and employee Eco-Reps, skill building workshops and behavior change campaigns. The Projects Coordinator will perform these and other responsibilities with a high degree of independence and minimal supervision. This is an entry-level position that pays a competitive salary and offers medical and other benefits.

Desired experience and qualifications:

  • Demonstrated passion for and participation in campus or community sustainability.
  • One or two years of experience leading sustainability or other projects in a college or similar setting.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring college-age interns, volunteers or other workers.
  • Bike mechanic skills and experience teaching others to maintain bikes.
  • Beekeeping knowledge and skills.
  • Familiarity with college greenhouse gas inventories.
  • Familiarity with AASHE STARS reporting.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills for working with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and community members.
  • Trade skills or DIY skills (e.g. carpentry, electrical, plumbing) a plus.
