Penn State is pleased to offer an online Bachelor of Arts degree in Energy and Sustainability Policy (ESP), in a collaboration between the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering, the Dutton e-Education Institute, and the World Campus.

The BA in ESP emphasizes five competency areas: Energy Industry Knowledge, Sustainability Ethic, Global Perspective, Analytic Skills, and Communication Skills.

Preparing You for New Career Opportunities

The online BA in ESP prepares students to compete for new careers in the growing and evolving energy field. Students will master the knowledge and skills needed to gather, analyze, synthesize, and communicate diverse information about emerging global trends in energy policy, technology, and economics. The ESP degree complements the existing classroom-based Bachelor of Science degree in Energy Business and Finance by emphasizing research skills, communication skills, foreign language and international competencies.

Graduates will be prepared to compete for professional careers related to foreign and domestic policy analysis, legislative or regulatory affairs, sales engineering and post-sales account management, permitting and compliance, purchasing, and public relations in energy-related government agencies and non-governmental organizations, public utilities, regulatory bodies, energy trade organizations and businesses. Graduates may also pursue advanced degrees leading to careers in education, law, or business administration.
